Trustbuilding Project - Indonesia
Objective
Overcoming differences and building trust among people from different ethnicities and religions, focusing on young people.
Integrating Trust Building Principles into the work of Initiatives of Change (IofC) Indonesia for interreligious and intercultural dialogue towards healing and reconciliation.
Background
Indonesia is facing a wave of intolerance and divides among religions, ethnicities, and social economies. Amongst these waves, there is violent extremism that threatens young men and women. This exposure happens at home and inside formal institutions. Despite these threats, Indonesian democracy has made impressive progress, which makes it a good moment to put extra energy and time into working with young people to strengthen the mission of living in unity in diversity and harmony.
The initial focus for the trust-building project is on the areas where Initiatives of Change (IofC) Indonesia has previously organized Trust building activities in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Jayapura and Makassar. All participants of these camps are invited to join training to become trust builders. The team has worked extensively with Christians and Muslims in the past, and actively involves people of different faiths as well.
Activities
Mobilizing youth interfaith communities in advocating trust building efforts, producing learning contents such as Trust Building Manual books, board games and other creative learning content to promote peace and social cohesion in the areas of ethical leadership, trust-building and sustainable living.

Miftahul Huda - Project Manager
Currently, he works for Peace Generation Indonesia as a trainer and actively engages with young people for Countering/Preventing Violent Extremism (C/PVE) across Indonesia. He was also involved with Initiatives of Change (IofC), a worldwide movement of peace and reconciliation, with IofC, he was part of Asia Pacific Coordination group and leading Life Matters Course in Asia Pacific Region. He is now the national coordinator of the Trust Building Program (TBP) for IofC Indonesia.
