Rooted in Values, Rising in Hope

After completing the Inner Growth Companionship Program (IGCP) and Family Camp, we wanted to process everything that happened and so the core team held an intensive meeting at Rumah Damai, our IofC community house, to devise strategies, assess our strengths, and identify the resources we can use to respond to the increasingly concerning situation in our country.

Seeing what is happening now, with increasingly troubling government policies, and the lack of clarity on effective systems to improve society's welfare and happiness, it seems we cannot just sit idly by, complaining and cursing.

It is time for IofC Indonesia to speak more loudly for justice and equality. While tending to ourselves and processing our personal wounds, we also need to heighten our sensitivity to the state of the country because “it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” Small initiatives from the grassroots are vital, for that is where hope will slowly emerge.

From our discussions, ideas and concepts were born. It became clearer that IofC Indonesia stands firm with the statement of a Movement of Consciousness regarding the importance of Spirituality, Morality, and Humanity to answer all this unrest.  Therefore, strategic steps need to be enhanced to be more targeted, so that the positive changes we hope for can begin with ourselves!

One of the important strategic matters is to promote, even more intensively, the Core Values of IofC with the 4 absolute values of Honesty, Purity, Unselfishness , and Love, which are increasingly vanishing from our lives: these values are the answers to all our anxieties.

The culture of Quiet Time and Inner Listening must be further encouraged to provide space for us all to connect with our true selves and with God and the quiet voice that speaks in everyone's heart. Taking a pause to reflect on this life, seeking direction for the decisions in our lives, and taking real action immediately!

It seems the universe heard us because good news arrived. Old friends apparently missed the IofC practices of Quiet Time and sharing together that we once shared with 81 Managers and employees from PT Jodamo Exchanges Indonesia (this company manages a resort, one of the biggest Factory Outlets in Bandung, and other businesses).  Recently, they surprised us by visiting our centre, Rumah  Damai, the Center for IofC Indonesia. They came with a group, including the owner and managers and the security staff. It was an unusual sight to see the warm and close relationship and interaction between the owner, manager, and staff, caring for one another and sharing laughter; it was truly grounded and humbling.  When we experienced this positive interaction,  it became even clearer that the hope we nurture and manifest can truly happen.

During that visit, we had a Quiet Time together and shared our joys and sorrows in a sharing group, while at the same time enjoying the Bandung food specialties and boxed dinners they brought. Rumah Damai became a safe space for us all to share our lives and be ourselves.  Another gift the company brought was a collection of cards and pins which will be very useful in our work. 

Through our discussions we realised we can have positive collaborations with this company in the future. The longing to experience spiritual things and inner peace truly exists. With this, let’s just wait for the several collaborations we will undertake! We are very excited!

Besides the joy of this gathering, we are also thinking about a very urgent and important matter: the rent for Rumah Damai has increased significantly and shocked us. In this economy, it burdens us because Rumah Damai,  is very important and must be sustainable. Nevertheless, we believe, with full conviction, that God will provide His help in any way.

So, we must all pray and strive hard so that everything we are fighting for is also in God's plan, so that all goodness can continue to flow. Hope grows larger, healing can happen, and we can all live with peace, strength, and the ability to face every challenge. Ultimately, we can all See the Light of goodness in this life.
