2021 has been an incredible journey as a team where we have run a series of activities of the TrustBuilding Program (TBP) in 2 cities; Jakarta and Yogyakarta. We have successfully run 3 TBP Camps and some follow up like visiting Ahmadiyah Community and Church in Jakarta while Yogyakarta team has reached out to Siah Community and Pesantren for Transwomen.

We have also launched and used the card game Friends for Life as the tools for the conversation during the camp, the participants have taken the mission to engage people in a safe conversation to build trust while playing the card game after the camp finished.

In one of the stories we got from our friends in Jakarta, one said as a Chinese Catholic in Jakarta, she carried trauma from the 2017 Jakarta local election. It was the moment when anti-Chinese and anti-Christian violence were simultaneously escalated as an expression to demand Ahok, the governor candidate of Jakarta, to be criminalized for religious blasphemy. TBP Camp became her opportunity to open up and address her trauma. She gained the confidence to tell about her traumatic past as well as to actively take part in the whole program.

Another story from our friend in Yogyakarta, an Adventist Christian youth leader. He was new to the interfaith issue. However, he showed a strong willingness to learn and implement the IofC values. In the second batch of the Yogyakarta Camp, He was able to invite Adventist Christian youth to take part in the program as participants. He wishes the program can be continued to bridge dialogue among Adventist Christian, other Christian communities, and Muslims.
